The Duc Ngo
A restaurant by Mr. Ngo
“I’m a big fan of the multicultural food culture in the USA. It is simply spectacular how you can bring American and Asian cuisine together to create real taste explosions”
The Duc Ngo brings together the simple, light and elegant pleasures of Californian Cuisine and the multitude of Pan-Asian influences for an unconventional menu boasting fresh produce and a melting pot of flavors. A tribute to The Duc’s Zodiac Sign, the Tiger is believed to embody a profound sensitivity and understanding of his surroundings and his heritage. Keen to explore new adventures his path has brought him to Frankfurt. As a continuance of his creative ingenuity The Duc has conceptualized Burbank as a restaurant reflecting strong Asian influences embracing the lightness, modernity and multi-cultural influences of a west coast charm.
Californian inspired Interiors designed by Hyunjung Kim, a close friend of Chef The Duc Ngo invite patrons to enter into an alcove of delights with light wood tables, cosy velvet seating, lush deep green granite surfaces and contrasting sky blue and desert orange color palettes. The Tiger’s den extends to an al fresco patio dining area, tucked away and nestled inside the courtyard of the Roomers Hotel.
The Vietnam-born chef moved to Germany with his family aged five. Characterizing Asian cuisine in Germany like no other, The Duc Ngo is a true culinary innovator, known for his reinterpretation of the traditional sushi roll. Redefining sushi culture, The Duc Ngo opened his first restaurant Kuchi at the age of 24 in Berlin in 1999. Despite no formal training as a chef, Ngo runs some of Berlin’s most popular restaurants and often combines different cuisines to create unique and inventive dishes like no other.
Together with Micky Rosen and Alex Urseanu of Gekko Group, The Duc Ngo opened his first project outside of Berlin in July 2013: moriki. Located in the towers of Deutsche Bank, the restaurant was dubbed ‘the place to be in Frankfurt’ by The New York Times. This was followed by the joint opening of the second moriki in Baden-Baden and a year later, the Golden Phoenix in Berlin.
